Teeth Whitening FAQ
We’ve aimed to answer your questions about teeth whitening. If we’ve missed any, please feel free to get in touch with us.
How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost?
I’ve Tried Non-professional Blue Light Teeth Whitening Before And It Didn’t Work, Why Will Dental Teeth Whitening Be Different?
The reason why non-professional teeth whitening doesn’t work is because the concentration of gel that’s used. It is extremely low (0.16%) whereas professional dental products are 100x more concentrated (16%). This means the gel can powerfully break down staining and whiten the tooth from the inside. That’s why the results with professional products like DENSTUDIO Whitening are a lot more noticeable.
How Is Dental Whitening So Effective At Whitening Teeth?
The 16% carbamide peroxide whitening gels are made from the freshest active ingredients to whiten your teeth. They provide you with great results that last. Your bespoke teeth whitening trays are custom made for your teeth. This means they keep the gel in the ideal position over your tooth surface to whiten effectively.

What Is Teeth Whitening?
Types Of Teeth Whitening Treatment
Benefits Of Teeth Whitening
There are many types of teeth whitening treatments available in the UK. Each treatment has a varying degree of effectiveness. These include
- Dental Teeth Whitening: The whitening treatments available at a dentist are potentially more effective than at-home and over the counter treatments. This is due to the strength of whitening gels available to dentists. With custom whitening trays gell is held closer to your teeth. . This gives you a more uniform whitening experience.
- At-Home Teeth Whitening: At home teeth whitening potentially use lower strength whitening gels and generic trays. This type of treatment is great if visiting the dentist gives you anxiety.
- Whitening Strips: Whitening strips are pressed against your teeth and left for around 20 minutes to help teeth appear whiter. This type of treatment doesn’t mould around your teeth often leading to uneven results both on the surface of your teeth and between teeth.
- Whitening Toothpaste: Whitening toothpaste is an abrasive designed to remove surface stains from teeth. It lacks the penetration of whitening gels and is potentially less effective but a more accessible teeth whitening treatment.
- Whitening Mouthwash: These products are designed to help teeth stay whiter by removing food particles from your teeth and gums.
All whitening treatments can make your teeth more sensitive than usual. You may wish to follow up by brushing with sensitive toothpaste using a soft toothbrush
The Teeth Whitening Procedure
- With all dentist lead treatments the process starts with an assessment of your teeth. This helps us to identify if you are suitable for treatment or if additional works are required before whitening can be successful.
- Your dentist will take a 3D scan of your mouth. This allows us to create your custom whitening trays. These hold our high strength Carbamide Peroxide whitening gel against your teeth to help maximise its effect.
- Your whitening trays will be manufactured in our Lab and delivered to your home and your next appointment created.
- Your dentist will complete your first whitening treatment and provide instruction allowing you to repeat the treatment at home
- Directly after your treatment avoid any foods that could stain your teeth for 24-48 hours. These include tomato based sauces, coffee and red wine.
- Repeating the treatment every few weeks will help to maintain the whiteness of your teeth. Simply apply a small amount of whitening gel to the tray from the syringes provided. Spread the gel to ensure even coverage and insert into your mouth for a few hours or overnight as required. In-between treatments use whitening toothpaste, interdental brushes and mouthwash to help to preserve your smile.
