What is Dental Hygiene Treatment?

Gum disease (gingivitis) is a very common problem, and symptoms such as inflamed gums, bleeding, sensitivity, receding gums, and pain when brushing can all be signs of this. It is the leading cause of tooth loss, which is why at Denstudio we take a preventative approach to gum disease, as it is highly treatable.

However, if gum disease persists over a long period of time and progresses, it can eventually affect the supporting structure of the teeth which can result in pain, infections, wobbly teeth and even tooth loss. This is known as periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease.

At Denstudio our focus is on prevention and this is why we believe it is critical to visit the hygienist regularly to assist you in maintaining the health of your gums and prevent gum disease.

This is provided through regular maintenance cleaning at least twice a year, oral hygiene instruction and education.

We’ve done our best to answer the most common questions we hear about porcelain veneers. If we’ve missed any, don’t hesistate to get in touch.

We recommend a dental hygiene visit every 6 months, though some patients may benefit from more frequent cleanings depending on their oral health, gum condition, or history of gum disease.
A typical hygiene appointment includes a professional teeth cleaning to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains, a gum health assessment, and tailored advice on brushing, flossing, and home care.
Most patients find hygiene appointments comfortable. If your gums are sensitive, we can use numbing gel or tailor the cleaning approach to ensure a pain-free experience.
Yes, our hygiene treatments help remove surface stains caused by tea, coffee, red wine, or smoking. For deeper stains, we may recommend teeth whitening.
A scale and polish is a basic clean. Our advanced hygiene appointments go further, using airflow polishing and ultrasonic scalers for a deeper clean and brighter smile.
Absolutely. One of the leading causes of bad breath is a build-up of bacteria. A hygiene clean removes this and helps keep your breath fresher for longer.

Not necessarily. At Denstudio, we offer direct access hygiene appointments, so you can book a cleaning without seeing a dentist first.

Yes. Regular hygiene visits are essential in preventing and managing gum disease by removing plaque and tartar build-up and monitoring gum health.
