The process typically takes two to three visits over two to three weeks. Your first appointment is a full consultation and smile design — we assess your teeth, take digital scans and photos, and design a smile that fits your face. Before any irreversible work, you see a trial smile (mock-up) so you know exactly what you are committing to. At the preparation visit, a minimal layer of enamel is gently reshaped and precise impressions are taken while temporary veneers are fitted. On the final visit, your permanent veneers are bonded, fine-tuned and polished.

Most patients experience little to no discomfort. Local anaesthetic is used during the preparation stage to ensure you are completely comfortable, and mild sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal but usually resolves on its own. Many patients describe the bonding appointment itself as completely painless.

With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last between 15 and 20 years — and many last longer. Longevity depends on good oral hygiene, regular check-ups, and avoiding habits like biting hard objects or grinding. We provide a full aftercare guide with every treatment and recommend a night guard if you are a grinder.

One of the biggest advantages of porcelain over composite is stain resistance. The glazed ceramic surface is highly resistant to discolouration from coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. Your natural teeth surrounding the veneers can still stain, so good hygiene and regular cleaning are important.

Porcelain veneers are made from ceramic in a dental laboratory and bonded to your teeth; composite bonding uses resin sculpted directly onto your teeth at the chair. Porcelain offers better aesthetics, superior stain resistance and a much longer lifespan (15–20 years vs 5–7 for composite). Composite is more affordable, requires no tooth preparation and is reversible. During consultation we will help you decide which is right for your goals.

Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive toothpaste, floss daily, attend regular check-ups and hygiene visits. Avoid using your teeth as tools, biting very hard foods directly with your front teeth, and wear a night guard if you grind. With this simple routine, your veneers will stay looking beautiful for many years.

Porcelain veneers are suitable for most adults with healthy teeth and gums who want to improve the appearance of their smile — including discolouration, chips, gaps, mild crowding and irregular tooth shapes.
